Banglamung, Chonburi β On June 26, 2025, at 12:30 PM, Banglamung Police arrested a 42-year-old farmer, Mr. Nopparat, alias βLe,β for attempting to transport 10,000 methamphetamine pills (locally known as “yabba”) across provinces for sale in Chonburi. The arrest took place in front of a convenience store in Moo 11 in the Sai Yai Subdistrict of the Sai Noi District of Nonthaburi Province.
Acting on a tip from an informant, Banglamung Police, led by Deputy Superintendent Pol. Lt. Col. Suphawat Lathapreecha, Sub-Inspector Pol. Lt. Col. Pakorn Mueansi, and Deputy Sub-Inspector Pol. Lt. Thongthawat Phonlakorn, along with the Special Suppression Unit, orchestrated an undercover operation. The suspect had agreed to sell 10,000 yaba pills (five bundles) for 55,000 baht, with the transaction arranged via mobile phone (recorded evidence available). The delivery was set to occur outside a convenience store along Rural Road 3004 in Sai Yai, Sai Noi, Nonthaburi.
Upon arrival at the designated location, police observed Mr. Nopparat riding a green Honda Giorno motorcycle and carrying a black plastic bag. As he approached the undercover agentβs car to deliver the drugs, officers moved in and arrested him. A search revealed 6,000 yaba pills (three bundles) in the bag, with an additional 4,000 pills (two bundles) found on his person, totaling 10,000 pills. The drugs were seized, and Mr. Nopparat was taken to Banglamung Police Station for questioning.
During interrogation, Mr. Nopparat confessed to collaborating with small-scale drug dealers in Banglamung, Chonburi. He admitted to regularly transporting yabba from Nonthaburi to sell in Chonburi, deliberately avoiding sales in his home area to evade local police suspicion. A rice farmer by trade, he claimed his involvement in drug trafficking stemmed from financial difficulties caused by a gambling addiction to “hi-lo” dice games.
Mr. Nopparat faces multiple charges, including “attempted distribution and possession of Category 1 narcotics (methamphetamine) for sale without authorization, illegal consumption of Category 1 narcotics (methamphetamine), and operating a motorcycle under the influence of Category 1 narcotics (methamphetamine).” He has been handed over to investigators for further legal proceedings.
Interestingly, despite the seriousness of the charges, Mr. Nopparat appeared to be in a good mood, even smiling, as seen above.
