Chonburi, Thailand – Recently, Mr. Phongthasit Pichanant, Deputy Governor of Chonburi Province, chaired a meeting and inspection to assess and select high-standard markets managed by local administrative organizations in Chonburi. The event took place at the third-floor meeting room of Sriracha City Municipality, where Mr. Chatchai Timkrachang, Mayor of Sriracha City, warmly welcomed the delegation.
The initiative aligns with the Ministry of Interior’s policy to promote community tourism, aiming to enhance the quality of life for locals, tourists, and service users by ensuring hygienic food, a clean environment, and safe market conditions. Following the meeting, the deputy governor and committee visited the Sriracha City Municipality Night Market to conduct an on-site evaluation.
The assessment focused on six key areas: general hygiene, market cleanliness and orderliness, food safety and consumer protection, participation of vendors and buyers, promotion of goods and tourism, and overall safety. Several markets under local administrative oversight scored highly in the evaluation, including Hua Kun Jae Municipal Market, Sriracha City Night Market, Nong Yai Municipal Market, and Tha Bun Municipal Market.
This effort shows Chonburi’s commitment to having safe, clean, and fun markets to boost community tourism and ensure a high quality of life for everyone.
