Explosion Strikes Pattani Red Cross Fair: 3 People Injured

Pattani –

In the early hours of June 20, 2025, a series of explosions disrupted the annual Red Cross Fair in Pattani, southern Thailand, injuring three people and prompting heightened security measures.

The Pattani Public Relation office reported the first explosion occurred at approximately 4:44 a.m. near the Somdet Park area, adjacent to the event grounds. Authorities are still working to pinpoint the exact location of the blast as of press time.

Shortly after the initial explosion, two more devices detonated near the D1 gate entrance, in the vicinity of local streetlights. One device exploded around 100 meters from the gate, and the second approximately 80 meters away.

The incident left three individuals injured: one local vendor and two police officers assigned to secure the event entrance. All three were transported to a nearby hospital and are currently in stable condition.

Security forces and bomb disposal units swiftly arrived at the scene to conduct forensic examinations and secure the area. Officials have intensified security protocols around the event venue to ensure the safety of both attendees and staff.

Local authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant. Citizens who observe suspicious activity or have relevant information are encouraged to contact the Fourth Army Region Command directly at 06-1173-2999 or call the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Center hotline at 1341, available 24/7.

The Red Cross Fair is a popular event in the region, typically drawing large crowds, although the attack took place early in the morning before the event had begun in earnest. While the motive for the attack remains under investigation, officials are treating the incident as a deliberate act aimed at causing unrest. Updates will follow as new information becomes available.
