Pattaya, Thailand – A 59-year-old woman, Ms. Rataya Thetsachai, expressed her gratitude after good Samaritans and police successfully recovered her stolen motorcycle and apprehended the suspect. Ms. Rataya, a condo housekeeper, also fulfilled her promise by offering a 5,000-baht reward to those who helped return her beloved vehicle.
The incident began at 5:00 PM on June 13, 2025, when Ms. Rataya reported HERE the theft of her pink-and-black Honda Scoopy motorcycle, registered with the license plate 1KX 1462 Chonburi. She provided CCTV footage capturing the thief and appealed to The Pattaya News and other local media for help in tracking down the culprit, offering a 5,000-baht reward for the return of her motorcycle or the arrest of the perpetrator.
On June 14, 2025, at 7:00 PM, residents near Ocean Pearl Condo in Soi Thappraya 12 alerted Ms. Rataya that a group of good Samaritans had detained a female suspect whose appearance matched the person seen in the CCTV footage. Ms. Rataya confirmed the suspect’s identity, and the woman confessed to the theft, admitting she abandoned the motorcycle after it ran out of fuel. The vehicle was found parked along Pattaya South Beach Road near the old fishing pier in Moo 10.
Ms. Rataya inspected the motorcycle and confirmed it was hers, noting it was still in working condition. Police promptly returned the vehicle to her. Overwhelmed with gratitude, Ms. Rataya thanked the good Samaritans and police for their efforts and handed over the promised 5,000-baht reward.
Authorities have detained the suspect, whose name was not released by Thai police, for further investigation and legal proceedings.
