Teen Gang Clash Near Pattaya Leaves Several People Injured

Chonburi, Thailand – June 17, 2025: A violent brawl between two rival teenage gangs erupted in Nong Ket Yai on the evening of June 16, resulting in multiple injuries and damaged property. The incident, captured on CCTV footage, was widely shared on social media, sparking local outrage.

According to reports, nearly 20 teenagers, some armed and riding motorcycles, clashed around 8:51 PM near a curve in Nong Ket Yai village, approximately 300 meters from the local police post. The footage showed a chaotic scene where a group of non-local teens from Banglamung, referred to as “Bang Lamung kids,” confronted the local “Nong Ket” gang, aged 16-18. However, the confrontation took a turn when the invading group lost control of their motorcycles, crashing into each other. Seizing the opportunity, the local gang retaliated, chasing the intruders into a nearby alley. Several of the Banglamung teens were injured in the melee.

A local shop owner, pseudoname as Mr. Tor, aged 35, witnessed the incident outside his grocery store. He explained how the local teens were loitering near his shop when the rival group arrived, seemingly intent on starting trouble. “Their motorcycles skidded and crashed, and that’s when the local kids fought back,” Mr. Tor said. Residents, alarmed by the violence, fled to their homes for safety.
Police were notified and arrived promptly, providing first aid to two injured Banglamung teens, who were later taken to a hospital. At the scene, authorities recovered two damaged motorcycles, a pen gun, and a folding knife, which were seized as evidence.

Lieutenant Colonel Suphawat Latthapreecha, Deputy Superintendent of Banglamung Police Station, confirmed the incident, noting that the Banglamung group’s attempt to provoke the locals backfired due to their motorcycle crash. “We’ve identified all the individuals involved and are coordinating with their guardians to bring them in for questioning regarding the weapons and the cause of the fight,” he said. Legal proceedings are underway.

The incident has left the community shaken, with residents criticizing the reckless behavior of the youths. A Facebook post by a local, which included the CCTV footage, expressed relief that the brawl did not spill into nearby businesses, while calling for stronger measures to curb such violence.
