Deputy Mayor Inspects Burst Water Pipe, Discovers Transformer Theft in Chonburi

Chonburi, Thailand – On the morning of June 17, 2025, Mr. Bancha Udong, Deputy Mayor of Khao Mai Kaew Subdistrict Administrative Organization (SAO) in Chonburi Province, led a team to investigate a reported water pipe rupture in a village near a cassava field along Highway 331. The leak, reported by local residents, was causing significant water loss.

Upon arrival, officials discovered that the burst pipe was caused by parts of an electrical transformer falling onto it. Further inspection revealed suspicious circumstances: a nearby transformer was missing, and cut electrical wires were found, suggesting thieves had struck under the cover of darkness when the area was quiet.

Mr. Bancha promptly coordinated with Huai Yai Police Station to investigate the scene and notified the Khao Mai Kaew Highway Department, the transformer’s owner, and the Provincial Electricity Authority to restore the electrical system swiftly. Measures are being planned to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Authorities are currently reviewing nearby CCTV footage to identify and apprehend the culprits, with legal action to follow.
