PATTAYA, Thailand – On June 9, 2025, at 12:36 AM, Mr. Gurov, a 54-year-old Russian national, filed a police report at the Dongtan Substation of Pattaya City Police Station after being allegedly attacked and robbed. The incident occurred in a wooded area near Soi Wat Boon Kanjanaram 7.
Update: Suspect arrested, but makes counter claim against the Russian tourist as police investigate.
According to Mr. Gurov’s wife, also 54 and Russian, the assault took place on the morning of June 8. While Mr. Gurov was urinating in the wooded area and smoking a cigarette, he was approached by a man accompanied by a child. The assailants attacked him with a weapon, striking his head and causing him to lose consciousness. They then stole his belongings, though Mr. Gurov could not recall the exact items taken. After regaining consciousness, he sought help from friends and his wife before reporting the incident to the police.
Lieutenant Colonel Anek Sarathongyoo, Superintendent of Pattaya City Police Station, was informed, and a team of investigative officers was dispatched to the scene to gather evidence. Lieutenant Police Officer Phuttharak Sonkhamhan, Deputy Inspector of Investigations at the Dongtan Substation, is coordinating with the Pattaya City Police investigative unit to track down the suspects and pursue legal action.
Authorities are actively searching for clues to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
