Pattaya, Thailand – On May 29th, 2025, at 5:36 PM, Hans Johan Grumheten, a Norwegian restaurant owner, and his Thai staff, Ms. Rossukhon Musikaphan, organized a charitable event at Baekadin Restaurant on Jomtien Second Road. The Norwegian who runs A Taste of Norway, a Norwegian-Thai restaurant located along Thappraya Road near the Hanuman Curve, provided a hearty hot pot and jip jum meal to underprivileged individuals, disadvantaged groups, and local street vendors.
Grumheten and Ms. Rossukhon explained that the initiative was funded partly by proceeds from selling a guitar autographed by renowned Thai artist Add Carabao, which Grumheten had kept as a cherished memento. Recognizing the economic challenges many face, they decided to use the funds to offer free meals to those in need, helping to alleviate their financial burdens.
Grumheten, who has lived in Thailand for many years, expressed his desire to give back to the community. He noted that his restaurant’s proximity to the Hanuman Curve has allowed him to witness the daily struggles of local vendors and others. This is not his first act of kindness; during the COVID-19 pandemic, he distributed boxed meals and water at nearby beaches.
The event brought warmth and full stomachs to many, reflecting Grumheten’s ongoing commitment to supporting Thailand’s less fortunate.
