Chinese Man in Pajamas Goes Swimming in Rooftop Pattaya Condo Water Tank, Removed by Rescue Teams

Pattaya-

At 5:00 PM on May 29th, 2025, the Sawang Boriboon Foundation Radio Center in Pattaya received a report of a foreign tourist who had jumped into a water tank on the rooftop of a condominium to go swimming in his pajamas.

The incident occurred at a condo in Soi 17 off of Thepprasit Road. After receiving the report, rescue teams quickly coordinated with Police Lieutenant Colonel Suchat Dusadee, Deputy Superintendent of Pattaya City Police Station, and relevant agencies to investigate.

The incident took place at an 8-story condominium. On the rooftop, there was a water tank approximately 2 meters long and 2 meters high. The foreign tourist, identified as Mr. Q (name withheld per editorial policy for possible mental health issues), a 26-year-old Chinese national, was found floating in the tank in his pajamas. Rescue workers faced a challenging operation, as they had to carry equipment up to the rooftop and use ladders and ropes to pull the tourist out. The rescue took over 30 minutes due to language barriers and the difficulty of extracting him from the two-story-high tank.

Inquiries with an unidentified Thai friend who was with the tourist revealed that the individual was a friend of their foreign partner and had been arguing with them. The tourist, who was staying with them had not taken medication for two days. The previous night, he had wandered off, prompting a search. On the day of the incident, he climbed onto the water tank and jumped in, seemingly to go swimming. Condo staff noticed the situation and informed the friend, who quickly called for help.
Initially, the police collected evidence and reviewed CCTV footage to determine how the tourist accessed the rooftop. The tourist was sent to a hospital for psychiatric treatment, and authorities will follow up to investigate the cause of the incident.
