Drunk Indian Tourist Obstructs Traffic, Climbs onto Taxi Roof on Pattaya Beach Road, Police Called

Pattaya-

A drunk Indian tourist caused a stir when he climbed onto the roof of a taxi and refused to come down, prompting police to intervene.

At 4:36 AM on May 29th, 2025, Pattaya City Police received a report about a foreign tourist who had climbed onto the roof of a white GAC AION electric taxi on Pattaya Beach road. The vehicle, operated by AV Mee Plus Co., had its emergency lights on, attracting a large crowd of onlookers. The female taxi driver was anxiously trying to remove the tourist from her vehicle with the help of onlookers but failing. Police were then called to the scene which was disrupting traffic and causing a tailback.

The man, seemingly intoxicated, was incoherent and refused to come down despite efforts from police and concerned citizens. After an extended negotiation, officers persuaded him to climb down onto the sidewalk, where he vomited heavily. Authorities provided water to clean him up before transporting him to a local hospital for an evaluation.

The taxi driver, 38-year-old Ms. Kanyaluck Thitisirikonpat, stated that she was heading to pray at Phratamnak Hill at a temple for the morning alms around 5 AM when the foreign man ran to her car, knocking on the door and asking for help. Frightened, and noticing his heavy level of intoxication, she chose not to let him in. The tourist then climbed onto the roof, ignoring her attempts to get him down until police arrived.

It was not immediately clear if legal charges would take place over the incident, stated police. The tourist was an Indian national, believed to be in his 30’s, but his name was not released to The Pattaya News.
