Young Russian Tourist Falls to Death from 9th Floor in Pattaya Condo

PATTAYA, Thailand – A 27-year-old Russian tourist, now identified as Mr. Mikhail Dolgh, died after falling from the 9th floor of a condominium in Jomtien, Pattaya, on May 22nd, 2024, at approximately 11:46 PM. The incident occurred at a condominium in Nongprue prompting a quick response from local authorities, accompanied by The Pattaya News.

Police Lieutenant Kriangkrai Kaewphiphop, Deputy Inspector of the Pattaya City Police Station’s Dongtan Substation, received the report and informed his superior, Police Colonel Anek Sarathongyoo, the station’s chief. Officers, along with rescue volunteers, rushed to the scene.

At the base of Building B, authorities discovered Mr. Dolgh’s body, with blood pooling on the road. Police secured the area with a perimeter line and covered the body with a white sheet to shield it from public view. An inspection of the deceased’s room revealed drug paraphernalia and a quantity of cannabis, which were collected as evidence. No signs of a struggle, robbery, or physical assault were found.
According to a security guard at the condominium, Mr. Dolgh exhibited erratic behavior prior to the incident, appearing paranoid and delusional. The guard reported that the tourist was heard rambling about a “ghost with hollow eyes” chasing him and attempting to kill him. Witnesses noted that he was running frantically up and down the building hallways prior to the incident, displaying signs of agitation. The guard added that Mr. Dolgh was known to frequently use cannabis, although stopped short of directly suggesting that led to his behavior.

A neighbor, whose name was withheld, told The Pattaya News about hearing the tourist shouting and screaming in a disturbing manner earlier that day, though no prior unusual behavior had been noted. An unidentified resident on the ground witnessed the moment Mr. Dolgh fell from the 9th floor and alerted the security guard, who then contacted the authorities.
Preliminary investigations by Lieutenant Kriangkrai suggest that the tourist may have jumped from the building in a state of drug-induced panic. The body has been sent for an autopsy to determine the precise cause of death. Authorities continue to investigate to confirm the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
