PATTAYA, Thailand – On May 19th, 2025, at 6:46 a.m., a 32-year-old man, Mr. Weerapol Kampangthong, filed a complaint at Nongprue Police Station in Chonburi after being brutally attacked and robbed by three men posing as police officers. Visibly injured with a swollen face, bruises across his body, and a laceration under his chin, Mr. Weerapol explained the incident to Police Lieutenant Colonel Siriyaporn Kongphetsak, the investigating officer, with The Pattaya News team present.
According to Mr. Weerapol, the assault occurred when he visited his girlfriend’s room to pick her up for a meal. Shortly after arriving, three men wearing vests resembling police uniforms barged in, accusing him of “stealing” one of their girlfriends. Before he could respond, the men attacked him, punching, kicking, and striking him with a wooden object. They further intimidated him by showing a firearm and threatening to shoot.
The assailants then forced Mr. Weerapol onto a motorcycle and took him to his residence, claiming they suspected him of hiding illegal drugs. A search of his home yielded nothing, but the suspects stole his mobile phone. When he asked about his phone, they dismissed his questions and fled the scene on their motorcycles. Before leaving, they warned him against reporting the incident to the police, threatening severe consequences if he did.
Frightened but determined, Mr. Weerapol consulted with his family and decided to report the crime. “This incident has left me and my family terrified,” he said. “I urge the police to track down these fake officers and bring them to justice so they can’t harm anyone else.”
Police at Nongprue Station have recorded Mr. Weerapol’s complaint and coordinated with the investigation team to track down the suspects. Authorities are actively pursuing leads to apprehend the suspects and ensure they face legal consequences.
