Pattaya-
Pattaya City Police Station has taken a groundbreaking step in Region 2 by developing a real-time crime analysis system accessible via mobile phones, dubbed the “Digital Crime Clock.” This initiative aligns with the policy of Pol. Lt. Gen. Yingyot Thepjumnong, Commander of Provincial Police Region 2, to integrate advanced technology into police operations.
Technologies such as AI-powered facial recognition are already in use to identify wanted individuals and monitor potential criminals, enhancing overall efficiency.
Pol. Maj. Sittiwat Katchamat, Deputy Superintendent (Prevention) at Pattaya City Police Station, told reporters that the “Digital Crime Clock” is designed to boost the effectiveness of crime prevention and suppression. The system provides real-time crime data analysis displayed on mobile devices, enabling precise and timely decision-making. Previously, crime incidents were manually plotted on a physical board. Now, details of incidents—such as theft or assault, including dates, times, and locations—are digitized into a platform accessible to all relevant officers.
Pol. Maj. Sittiwat cited a practical example: frequent assaults were reported along Pattaya’s central beachfront. By analyzing data through the Digital Crime Clock, police identified peak incident times (3:00 AM to 4:00 AM) and deployed patrols accordingly. This targeted approach reduced assaults in the area, proving the system’s real-world impact.
The technology is not intended to replace police duties but to provide a comprehensive overview of crime patterns. It helps officers identify when and where specific crimes occur, allowing for more accurate deployment of preventive patrols. Pattaya City Police Station is the first in Region 2 to implement this system, setting a precedent for crime analysis and prevention planning. The Commander of Provincial Police Region 2 plans to expand the system to other provinces in the eastern region, aiming for standardized, precise crime analysis in line with the motto: “Trust, Faith, Professionalism.”
Pol. Maj. Sittiwat stated that, as head of crime prevention and suppression, his goal is to leverage the Digital Crime Clock to support investigations and reduce crime rates. “If incidents drop by even 5-10%, I consider that a success,” he said. “It means we’re using our expertise to serve the public and the Royal Thai Police effectively.”
