PATTAYA, Thailand – On May 7th, 2025, a large hole was discovered in the wall of Pattaya City’s automated parking garage near Bali Hai Pier, bringing concerns from passersby and tourists. The damage, clearly visible from the outside Pier area, occurred on the wall near the clock tower.
According to Mr. Chukiat Wiwatthanakulthorn, 53, the manager of the parking facility, the incident took place at 12:30 p.m. when a lift arm, used to maneuver vehicles within the garage, collided with the wall during a routine operation to retrieve a customer’s car. The impact opened a big hole in the wall, constructed from concrete blocks, but did not damage the lift or any vehicles, which remained safely in their parking slots.
Mr. Chukiat explained that the lift is equipped with an emergency button that immediately halts all operations in the event of a collision, preventing further damage. “The lift system stopped instantly, and no other equipment or vehicles were affected,” he said. The facility’s machinery, software, and lifts remain fully operational, and the garage continues to provide services as normal.
The damage is limited to the wall, which will be repaired by replastering the concrete blocks to restore its original condition. Authorities have confirmed that no injuries or additional property damage occurred. The Pattaya automated parking garage remains open to the public while repairs are planned.
