Pattaya-

On May 2, 2025, at 4:36 p.m., Lt. Col. Prasit Boonprasit, head of the Pattaya City Police Drug Suppression Unit, led a team to investigate Jomtien Soi 3 following reports of a man in a frenzied state attacking civilians and kicking cars, claiming his father was a police officer. CCTV footage traced the man’s vehicle from Jomtien Beach Soi 3, causing widespread fear among residents. Suspecting drug involvement, police acted swiftly under orders to crack down on drug-related crimes.

Upon arrival, officers discovered ongoing illegal drug sales conducted brazenly without fear of the law. When police attempted to make arrests, one dealer resisted violently, kicking and punching an officer, injuring his face.

Despite the resistance, the suspect was apprehended with 50 methamphetamine pills (yaba) in one bag, two bags of 10 pills, one bag of 8 pills, and 4 bags of crystal meth (ice) totaling 78 pills weighing 3.15 grams. Another dealer was also arrested with 50 yaba pills.

Both suspects confessed to selling drugs in the area, targeting times when police shifts changed to avoid detection. They claimed monthly profits of tens of thousands of baht and alleged prior extortion by fake police officers.

The suspects and evidence were taken to Pattaya City Police Station for questioning to expand the investigation into larger drug suppliers distributing to smaller dealers in Pattaya and nearby areas. Legal proceedings are underway.

This area, notes TPN Media, has seen extensive raids in recent months, like this one here, and destruction of various shacks and temporary structures to attempt to eliminate the drug problem. However, much of the debris from the structures remains, leading to continued issues in this area.

The names and ages of the suspects were not released by relevant police officers.
