Pattaya City to Replace Walking Street Signs with New High Tech LED Versions

PATTAYA, Thailand – On April 28, 2025, Pattaya City took a step toward enhancing its world-class tourism appeal with a meeting to discuss the ambitious LED screen renovation project for Walking Street. Held at 1:30 PM in Meeting Room 131 of Pattaya City Hall, the session was chaired by Mayor Poramese Ngampichet and attended by key officials, including Deputy Mayor Krisana Boonsawat, members of the Pattaya City Council, and representatives from the Chonburi Provincial Administrative Organization in Bang Lamung District.

Department heads and a team from IO Digital Technology-Baramee Mitr 5 Joint Venture, the project’s contractor, were also present to outline the initiative’s details.

The project aims to modernize the iconic Walking Street by upgrading its outdated and deteriorated signage with state-of-the-art LED displays at two key locations. The first site, at the entrance to Walking Street, will see the replacement of an 8×4-meter static sign with a striking, curved LED screen measuring 9 meters wide and 12 meters high, boasting P4.81 resolution. This double-sided display, positioned at the exit gate, will feature a convex design aligned with the road, delivering vibrant, high-brightness visuals suitable for both day and night. Custom LED lettering spelling “Walking Street” will adorn the sign, with the supporting pole clad in aluminum composite and accented by color-changing neon flex lighting.

The second location, at the original entrance near Bali Hai Pier, will feature a single-sided 9×3-meter LED screen (P4.81 resolution) on the entry side, complemented by illuminated metal “Walking Street” lettering with adjustable colors on the opposite side. The project, spanning 120 days from April 24 to August 21, 2025, is designed to elevate Pattaya’s aesthetic appeal and reinforce its status as a premier global tourist destination.
During the meeting, extensive discussions focused on content for the LED screens, with an emphasis on creating visually captivating displays featuring vibrant lighting, sound, and themes reflective of Pattaya’s unique identity. Attendees proposed ideas to ensure the content is engaging and representative of the city’s vibrant tourism culture.

Mayor Poramese Ngampichet emphasized the project’s importance, stating, “This renovation reflects our commitment to modernizing Walking Street and enhancing Pattaya’s allure as a world-class destination. We aim to create an unforgettable experience for visitors, potentially through unique content like a Pattaya mascot or visuals highlighting our city’s activities.” He directed the contractor to develop diverse content options and a detailed plan for equipment removal and temporary traffic management to minimize disruptions. A follow-up meeting is scheduled for May 5 to finalize these plans and ensure the project remains on track.
The Walking Street LED screen renovation is poised to transform one of Pattaya’s most iconic areas.
