VFW Is Cleaning Up the Streets of Pattaya

Sois 4 and 5 in Pattaya to get much-needed deep cleaning

Pattaya, Thailand

by Raymond “Ray” McGee, Post Historian

Members of the Fred J. Estes VFW Post 9876, the Auxiliary, and Wives Club will be gathering at 9:00 am on May 3, 2025, to take part in the Veterans of Foreign Wars National Day of Service. Due to its success last year, the Post has decided to repeat last year’s mission and again work to clean up Soi Four and Soi Five between Pattaya Beach and Pattaya 2nd Roads.

“It is a requirement from the VFW National Headquarters and the Department of the Pacific Areas to have a Day of Service benefitting our community…,” says Marcus Earp, Commander of the Fred J. Estes VFW Post 9876. “We typically go down Soi 4 to Beach Road then come back using Soi 5. We pick up trash on that walk through.”
Members of the Post and Auxiliary will gather at the Post Headquarters located at
Sawatdee Thai Plaza
12 Moo #9
Nongprue
Bang Lamung Chonburi 20150 Thailand
with trash bags, rakes, brooms, shovels, and dust pans, and then head out.
Last year, 2024, twenty-three members of the Post, the Auxiliary, and Wives Club along with representatives of Pattaya City Sanitation worked for several hours, collecting bags of garbage and dead vegetation from the streets.
Keeping our streets clean is important to our community because it will:
•Reduce food sources for wild animals and disease-carrying vermin
•Improve the appearance of our neighborhoods
We welcome anyone interested in helping us to keep Pattaya clean to meet us at 9:00 am at the Post Headquarters. For more information call the Post at +66 618 462 539, email the Post at info@vfw9876.org, or message Mrs. Guarnuccio, President of the Post Auxiliary on Line #0823 229 696

About The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, Fred J. Estes Post 9876 and Auxiliary

Established in 1981, the Fred J. Estes VFW Post 9876 is the home away from home in Thailand for American combat veterans. #Still Serving is a core concept of the VFW, and the officers, members, and the Auxiliary live that concept every day. From donating food and supplies to orphanages, aiding veterans and their spouses and widows with getting benefits, to cleaning temples and painting schools, the VFW is there serving Pattaya and the surrounding area.
