Thai Police Push Digital Border Screening to Combat Transnational Crime

Thailand, April 25th, 2025 — National Police Chief Pol. Gen. Kitrat Phanphet announced intensified efforts to crack down on transnational criminal gangs, especially illegal Chinese crime syndicates and foreign nationals violating Thai law, through the upcoming “TM.6 Online” system, or TDAC, which we described previously as seen below.

Thailand has increasingly been used as a hub or transit point by such networks, including for luring Thais into working in scam call centers in neighboring countries. Pol. Gen. Kitrat acknowledged international concerns that Thai officials may be complicit, and stressed that authorities are now seriously investigating the roots of these operations to prevent recurrence.
A key initiative set to launch in May is the “TM.6 Online” digital immigration form, designed to screen travelers in advance. The system links with national security databases to flag and block suspicious individuals before entry, improving Thailand’s border control.
Police will also target foreign-run illegal businesses that use Thai nominees as frontmen—common especially in Bangkok. Thai PM Paetongtarn Shinawatra has called for a multi-agency meeting to establish a systematic approach to combat the issue, calling such practices a serious violation of Thai law and sovereignty.
The Chinese Embassy and government have pledged full cooperation, sharing intelligence and supporting coordination efforts to jointly suppress these criminal networks.
