Hello to our readers and fans of The Pattaya News. Today, April 25th, 2025, we have an important announcement that, while disappointing for some of our readers, also has a silver lining.
Upon careful review of reader engagement rates and views of our E-Paper, launched in the middle of last year, we have made the decision as an editorial team that despite the absolutely fantastic design and implementation work performed by our E-Paper team, the concept simply never saw enough widespread adaptation from our audience to continue spending a significant amount of resources and time on, taking away from production of breaking and fresh content.
We originally launched the E-Paper primarily as an experiment to mix the best of a print and digital paper and we couldn’t be prouder of the team behind this and what they accomplished. However, we also need to ensure we provide the content that our readers demand, and quite simply based on many discussions, including in-person ones with real readers like you, we have heard that our fans would prefer to see different content over an electronic paper.
What content? More videos, both short and long form, more original live videos and coverage of events in the moment, more photos and coverage of local, business, and community news happening in Pattaya, and more breaking news to cover on social media platforms and articles immediately published on our website.
By freeing up resources from the weekly E-Paper, we believe we will be able to provide our readers more of what they keep asking for while also focusing on our platforms that get up to millions of views a month, such as Facebook, Reels, TikTok, X, Instagram, Youtube, our websites, and more. We also will be able to continue our growth on newer social media platforms like Threads and Bluesky that some of our readers have asked us to be more involved with and are seeing positive growth.
I wanted to once again thank the E-Paper team for the incredible job they did and their work, as the decision has nothing to do with the quality of the offering but rather simply to provide our readers the content they want on the platforms they most follow. I’m excited about the future and this decision will mean MORE breaking news and content, not less, as we reassign resources to the in the moment production of fresh content, versus republishing and design of older news and content from the previous week.
Thank you to our loyal E-Paper readers and we hope you continue to join us through one of our many other offerings or simply through the daily news and weekly recaps on our websites for those who don’t like social media. The final E-Paper will be at the end of this month. We will continue to support and grow the business directory, as we feel it is a great resource for readers and advertisers alike. We will still have plenty of options for advertisers through videos, social media posts, articles, live videos, event coverage, banner ads, and more.
