Sattahip —

A 69-year-old man was seriously injured after attempting to drive through a railway crossing in Sattahip, only to be struck by a freight train.

At 9:50 AM on April 24th, Sattahip Police received a report of a collision between a freight train and a pickup truck at a railway crossing near Ban Noen Samakkhi in Sattahip district, Chonburi province. Authorities responded to the scene along with rescuers from the Sawang Rojanathammasathan Foundation.

At the scene, freight train No. 4524, traveling from Map Ta Phut Station toward Laem Chabang Port was found stopped near the accident site. Nearby, an Isuzu D-Max blue four-door pickup truck was found severely damaged on the left side and rear, having been thrown into the roadside grass about 50 meters from the impact point.

Footage from CCTV revealed that the pickup driver attempted to bypass the lowered railway barrier to cross to the other side. However, the vehicle was struck directly in the front by the train. The driver, Mr. Prasert, 69, was seriously injured in the crash. Rescue workers rushed him to Bangkok-Pattaya Hospital for emergency treatment.

Police are continuing their investigation and will summon both the train driver and Mr. Prasert—once he recovers—for questioning and further legal procedures.
