Motorcyclist Killed, Passenger Injured in Collision with Parked 18-Wheeler in Chonburi

Chonburi —

A motorcyclist was killed and his passenger injured when their bike slammed into the rear of a parked 18-wheeler on a dark road in Chonburi early Thursday morning.

At around 2:00 AM on April 24th, the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Pattaya Rescue Center received a report of a fatal motorcycle accident on Highway 331, inbound to Sattahip. Rescue volunteers immediately went to the scene.

Upon arrival, they found a white Hino S700 18-wheeler parked on the roadside due to a mechanical failure. The truck was carrying cement blocks and had been left without emergency signals. Mr. Phisit, 45, the truck driver, explained that he was attempting repairs and had removed the battery, which disabled the emergency lights. The area was reportedly dark at the time of the crash.

A blue-and-white Honda Wave 110i motorcycle crashed into the rear of the parked truck and was severely damaged. The motorcyclist, identified as Mr. Chartsak, 38, was found dead at the scene. His passenger, 24-year-old Ms. Yuwalee, sustained minor abrasions. Rescue workers provided first aid before transporting her to a local hospital.

The deceased’s body was transferred to Banglamung Hospital. Police are investigating the exact cause.
