PATTAYA, Thailand – On April 21st, 2025, a road rage incident unfolded in front of Nong Yai Temple in Pattaya, leaving a passenger van heavily damaged. A video circulating online captured a motorcycle taxi driver appearing to cut off a Chonburi-Rayong passenger van, dismounting, and violently smashing the van’s left and right side windows, as well as its front, with a hard object. The attack occurred in broad daylight, witnessed by numerous passersby, with the van driver refraining from retaliating.
The white passenger van was en route from Chonburi to Rayong at the time. The driver, Mr. Thongmai Khotlakham, 25, explained the incident to reporters. He stated that while driving past Nong Yai Temple, the motorcycle taxi rider swerved close to the van’s side mirror before cutting in front and forcing the van to stop in the middle of the road.
“He got off, pointed at me, and told me to get out of the van. I had a full load of passengers and didn’t want trouble, so I stayed put. That angered him, and he started smashing my van’s windows on both sides and the front with a hard object before speeding off,” Mr. Thongmai said.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage online, fueled by the clear footage recorded by a concerned citizen. Mr. Thongmai stated that after completing his passenger drop-offs, he plans to file a police report and pursue legal action against the assailant. Thongmai said he has no idea what could have sparked the action and claimed he did nothing wrong or had no prior conflict.
This comes the same day, notes TPN Media, as a report of a man in a motorbike taxi vest robbing tourists in the Pratumnak area as we reported here.
