Pattaya-
On April 17, 2025, at the Chumsai Community Office on Pattaya Third Road, the Chumsai Community Committee, together with local residents, organized a traditional Songkran almsgiving ceremony to uphold ancient Thai cultural practices.
The event was attended by Mr. Poramese Ngampichet, Mayor of Pattaya, Mr. Nakorn Pholuekin, Deputy Mayor of Chonburi Provincial Administrative Organization, and Pol. Col. Anek Sarathongyoo, Superintendent of Pattaya City Police Station. They were joined by Pattaya City Council members Mr. Banjong Banthurayuk and Mr. Jirasak Jitsom.
Community members brought an array of savory and sweet foods, as well as drinking water, to offer to nine monks from Nong Or Monastery, who chanted Buddhist mantras. Mr. Poramet Ngampichet, representing the community, lit candles and incense to pay homage to the Triple Gem. The monks then bestowed blessings and precepts, after which the residents offered a mid-day meal to the monks and shared food together.
The almsgiving ceremony, a long-standing tradition in the Chumsai community, is held to dedicate merit to deceased relatives, reflecting a cherished belief passed down through generations. Following the religious rites, the community performed a ceremonial bathing of Buddha statues and a water-pouring ritual to seek blessings from the elderly, promoting auspiciousness and goodwill.
