The Wan Lai Festival in Sattahip has begun with a procession of flower-decorated vehicles and a parade of the revered Buddha statue around local markets.
The Sattahip District Chief, Mr. Anusak Phiriyamon, presided over the opening ceremony of the Wan Lai Songkran Festival at Sattahip Temple, Chonburi Province, on April 17, 2025, at 10:00 AM. The event was attended by Mr. Samrit Phaengam, Deputy Mayor of Sattahip, Pol. Col. Komsan Khamtungaew, Sattahip Police Chief, Mr. Phonthakorn Khraikruan, Deputy Mayor of Chonburi Provincial Administrative Organization, local government officials, The Pattaya News, navy personnel, community leaders, residents, youth, and students in large numbers.
The festival featured a procession of the revered Phra Buddha statue, allowing locals and tourists to pour water on the Buddha image for blessings. Additionally, a parade of beautifully decorated flower vehicles, accompanied by long-drum performances and traditional dancers, circled the area.
Mr. Anusak Phiriyamon stated that the Songkran Festival is a long-standing Thai tradition. The Sattahip Municipality recognizes its importance and organizes the event to preserve this cherished custom for future generations. Activities such as pouring water on Buddha statues, paying respects to elders, and even more modern water splashing foster unity, harmony, and reconciliation among the community.
