BANGKOK, April 15, 2025 — The Office of the National Water Resources (ONWR) has issued an urgent warning to residents across 25 provinces in Thailand, urging them to prepare for potential flash floods and mudslides due to heavy rainfall from widespread thunderstorms. The alert, effective from April 15 to 17, covers regions including Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Sukhothai, Prachinburi, and Phuket.

Triggered by a high-pressure system moving from China, the storms are expected to bring torrential rain, particularly in northern and central provinces. Mountainous areas like Chiang Mai face heightened mudslide risks, while low-lying regions could see severe flooding. The ONWR has mobilized emergency teams, cleared drainage systems, and urged residents to stay vigilant, avoid flood-prone areas, and prepare emergency kits.
For updates, residents are advised to monitor announcements from the Thai Meteorological Department.
