As Pattaya prepares for the Wan Lai Festival this weekend and is currently in the middle of Songkran, local law enforcement has issued a public advisory cautioning against the use of blue high-pressure PVC pipe style water guns. Authorities are urging residents and visitors to avoid using or collecting these makeshift devices and to report any sightings to ensure public safety during the festivities.
The Chonburi Provincial Police, in coordination with Pattaya City Police, highlighted that these blue PVC pipe water guns, often crafted for Songkran celebrations, can pose dangerous risks due to their high-pressure capabilities. “These devices can cause injuries and disrupt the safe, family-friendly atmosphere we aim to maintain during Wan Lai,” said a Pattaya City Police spokesperson. “We’re asking for the community’s help to keep the festival enjoyable for all.”
Authorities have advised that only safe, commercially manufactured water guns should be used during the festival’s water-playing activities. Anyone spotting blue PVC pipe water guns in public areas is encouraged to contact the Pattaya City Police hotline or report to the nearest police station.
“We want everyone to celebrate Wan Lai with joy and responsibility,” the spokesperson added. “By reporting these unsafe devices, you’re helping us keep Pattaya safe for everyone.”
