Pattaya Leads as the Tourists Top Choice for Songkran as Makalius Reports 12 Percent Rise in Hotel Bookings

Pattaya —

Makalius has revealed a 12% jump in hotel voucher sales for Songkran 2025, with Pattaya emerging as the top destination, taking up half of all bookings.

Ms. Neeranuch Traijakwanuj, CEO of Makalius Thailand Co., Ltd., a platform offering e-vouchers for hotels, restaurants, and tourist attractions, revealed that Thailand remains a top destination for local travelers during the 2025 Songkran Festival.

Based on booking data from the Makalius platform, hotel voucher purchases have increased by over 12% compared to the same period last year.

For customers living in Bangkok and nearby areas, the most popular destination this Songkran is Pattaya, accounting for over 50% of all bookings. This is due to the many events held in the city to attract tourists. Following Pattaya are Hua Hin and Cha-am (20%), Chiang Mai (15%), Khon Kaen (10%), and Phuket (5%).

In terms of travel style, the most common is “Big Family” trips, with travelers booking large accommodations like pool villas that can host many family members. The second most popular group is “The Gang,” referring to groups of friends, followed by “Teenage & First Jobbers” (young adults and new workers). These groups tend to choose budget hotels that are affordable, safe, and conveniently located, as they mainly want a place to rest while enjoying local Songkran activities.
