Thailand, April 10th, 2025 — Pol. Col. Monporn Likhitmanon, Superintendent of Suvarnabhumi Airport Tourist Police, announced the arrest of two Chinese men suspected of stealing cash from fellow passengers aboard Air Macau flight NX996.
The suspects, publicly identified only as Mr. Han, 54, and Mr. Wang, 46, were found with suspicious amounts of Thai currency totaling 80,000 baht.
A Chinese passenger from Macau reported 30,000 baht missing from his backpack, with an American passenger witnessing the suspects rummaging through it mid-flight. The suspects allegedly tried to discard the stolen cash and pleaded with airline staff not to involve police.
Later, a second victim, Miss Ding, 29, also reported 50,000 baht missing from her bag after reaching her hotel. She confirmed one of the suspects sat beside her on the flight. A detailed search led to the recovery of her stolen money from the suspect’s body.
Both suspects were already under watch by Suvarnabhumi’s tourist police for suspected theft activities on aircraft. They now face charges of jointly committing theft aboard an aircraft.
