Local administrative officials and police conducted an inspection of entertainment venues in Pattaya on Tuesday evening, 8 April 2025, as part of an ongoing effort to prevent and suppress illegal activities.
This followed another round of inspections in the Soi Bongkot area earlier this week, leading to arrests for venue management running bars allegedly past legal opening times and without proper licenses, as we reported here at The Pattaya News.
The recent operation was led by Mr. Nathaphob Yomjinda, Mr. Natthawat Sophonsewattasilp, and Mr. Tharit Chancharoon, all deputy district chiefs of Banglamung, alongside Police Lieutenant Colonel Chaowalit Suwanmanee, Deputy Inspector of Pattaya City Police Station. They were joined by a team of administrative officers from Banglamung District and police personnel from Pattaya City Police Station. The group targeted nightlife hotspots around the Soi Excite area to ensure compliance with Thai laws.
During the inspections, authorities randomly checked various entertainment establishments, looking at employee records, identification documents, and conducting drug tests on both staff and patrons. The operation yielded no evidence of illegal activity—no offenders were identified, no drugs were detected, and no minors were found.
Mr. Nathaphob Yomjinda, one of the deputy district chiefs, took the opportunity to remind venue operators of the government’s strict “Five No” policy: No minors, no drugs, no weapons, no prostitution, and a commitment to safety. He added that these measures must be upheld. “Officials will continue to conduct unannounced inspections,” he warned. “If violations are uncovered, legal action will be taken without exception.”
This comes as Pattaya prepares to celebrate Songkran, the Thai New Year, from this weekend until April 19th, a period that usually sees higher numbers of people visiting clubs and bars but also higher incidents and potential crime.
