Pattaya is gearing up for its iconic Wan Lai Festival on April 19th, with road closures, cultural events, and over 400 officers deployed to keep participants safe.
Pol. Col. Anek Srathongyu, Chief of the Pattaya Police Station, revealed the traffic and safety plan for the Wan Lai Festival 2025.
In the morning, traditional activities such as a water-pouring ceremony to pay respect to the elderly and various Thai cultural games will be held at Wat Chai Mongkhon from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
From 3:00 PM to midnight, road closures will be in effect starting from the Central intersection along Beach Road up to the front of Wat Chai Mongkhon, including Soi 7 to Soi 13/4 turning left toward the temple. These measures are to facilitate the flower parade and maintain the safety of the public and tourists participating in the water festivities. Emergency lanes will also be designated to allow for the transport of patients if needed.
More than 400 officers from various agencies will be deployed to provide services and help for people in need, especially along Beach Road, which is the main area for water play. A large turnout is expected. Authorities urge everyone to enjoy the festival responsibly, respectfully, and in line with Thai traditions.
As for prohibitions during the Pattaya Songkran Festival:
- Drinking alcohol in vehicles or public areas is strictly prohibited.
- High-pressure water guns or those resembling weapons are not allowed.
- Wearing overly revealing or provocative clothing is not permitted.
