 Sri Racha —

Thousands of Thais and foreigners gathered in Bo Win in Sri Racha today (April 6th) to celebrate Thailand’s first Wan Lai Songkran event of the year.

The atmosphere of the Songkran festival during the “Wan Lai Bo Win 2025” event was lively along the Nong Kang Pla–Huai Prab Road and the Eastern Seaboard Road. Local residents and businesses organized the event, which drew large crowds of people coming out to celebrate and enjoy the traditional water splashing activities.

Wan Lai Bo Win is known as the first event of its kind in Thailand to kick off the Songkran festivities. The Bo Win Subdistrict Administrative Organization (SAO) and Bo Win Police Station designated special zones for people to celebrate and splash water safely.

Many people flocked to join the celebrations, possibly due to the hot weather. Residents from nearby districts and provinces also traveled to Bo Win to take part in the event, which has been held for over eight years and is known as the first official Songkran celebration in the country. The Bo Win SAO encouraged participants to be mindful of water usage, promoting a traditional, safe, alcohol-free Songkran with minimal water use.

Vendors were also cautioned not to sell alcoholic beverages along the roadsides, as drinking could lead to accidents or altercations. Police stated that if anyone is found driving under the influence, whether on a motorcycle or in a car, they will be detained and held until they are sober and charged to prevent accidents during the water splashing festivities.

Planning your first Songkran in Thailand? Here’s how to stay safe, respectful, and ready for the world’s biggest water fight!
