Banglamung, Thailand – This weekend, at the Community Hall of the Banglamung District Office, Mr. Patcharapat Sritanyanon, Banglamung District Chief, chaired a meeting with sub-district and village heads to align policies and set a unified direction for local governance.
During the meeting, a ceremony was held to award insignia and official appointment letters to five newly appointed assistant village heads. In his address, the District Chief announced a big development: On March 18, 2025, Banglamung District registered a limited company named P FOR B Enterprise Co., Ltd., short for “Pattaya for Banglamung Enterprise.” The company was established with 99 shareholders, each contributing 20,000 baht per share. Within a year, the company plans to transition into a “Community Social Enterprise” under the Social Enterprise Promotion Act. Per the law, at least 70% of the profits from such enterprises must be reinvested into society.
This 70% profit will be divided into two funds: one allocated to the Banglamung Red Cross Branch and the other to the district’s public health sector, dubbed the “District Quality of Life Development Fund.” These funds will provide rapid assistance to the underprivileged and disaster-affected individuals without the delays of bureaucratic processes. Potential uses include purchasing beds for bedridden patients, repairing or building homes for the needy, providing scholarships for underprivileged students, and upgrading community infrastructure such as public utilities in villages.
Mr. Patcharapat further noted that the initial shareholders are primarily prominent local figures from Banglamung District and Pattaya City, ensuring a stable financial foundation for the company’s profits to bolster these funds. Looking ahead, once the company is firmly established and transitions into a Community Social Enterprise, it may expand by offering additional shares at 500 baht each. He cited a successful precedent: Don Phut Enterprise Co., Ltd., in Don Phut District, Saraburi Province—one of only a handful of such companies among Thailand’s 878 districts—which has already made a significant impact in supporting its local community.
The District Chief added that this program aims to harness the power of the community to drive a robust grassroots economy, fostering self-reliance and improving the quality of life across Banglamung.
