Thai Motorbike Taxi Drivers Clash with Chinese Tourists Over Public Urination Near Pattaya Soi 6

Pattaya —

A late-night brawl broke out in Pattaya between Thai motorcycle taxi drivers and Chinese tourists after the tourists allegedly urinated in a restricted private area.

At 11:36 PM on April 4th, Pattaya police received a report of a brawl that took place at the top of Soi 6. Upon receiving the report, officers promptly went to investigate.

At the scene, officers found a group of Thai motorcycle taxi drivers and Chinese tourists arguing. Witnesses said the dispute had escalated into a chaotic fistfight before bystanders managed to stop the altercation. Both sides sustained only minor injuries and were brought in for questioning at the Pattaya Police Station.

According to the motorcycle taxi drivers, the group of three Chinese men urinated in a private area clearly marked with a “No Urinating” sign and which is also against Thai law. Despite being warned, the tourists ignored the requests and responded aggressively. This led to a confrontation involving shirt-pulling and eventually a physical altercation.

The two parties are deciding whether to press charges as of press time but with neither side seriously injured is likely to not do so and consider the matter settled.
