A luxury Mercedes-Benz driver crashed into a streetlight in Pattaya after running a red light, with two Chinese tourists fleeing the scene before police arrived.
At 6:23 AM, the Najomtien Police received a report of a car accident near the Sukhumvit intersection, heading towards Highway 7 (Pattaya–Map Ta Phut) in Na Jomtien, Sattahip, Chonburi. Officers were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, police found a Mercedes-Benz S560e severely damaged in the median. The front of the vehicle was completely wrecked, with debris scattered across the road. The impact had toppled and broken a streetlight, and long skid marks were visible at the scene. However, the driver was nowhere to be found, with police believing they had fled before authorities arrived.
A roadside vendor who witnessed the incident stated that they heard a loud crash and turned to see the car colliding with the streetlight. They then saw two Chinese men emerge from the vehicle. One of them ran into the nearby woods, while the other crossed the road.
Na Jomtien Police and are now working to locate the driver and passengers. They will be summoned for questioning and charged with damaging government property.
