At 9:06 PM on March 31, 2025, a shocking incident was reported to The Pattaya News by Mr. Sunthorn Klonklang, also known as “Num,” a 39-year-old Thai man. Earlier that day, around 11:00 AM, Num was viciously attacked by an unidentified muscular man, estimated to be 35–40 years old, who struck him in the face with the butt of a handgun.

The assault left Num with severe injuries, including cuts on his left cheek and behind his ear, requiring eight stitches. The incident occurred in front of a restaurant in Soi Kor Phai. Num presented CCTV footage as evidence to aid in identifying the suspect.

According to Num, he had been eating at the restaurant and chatting casually with a younger female acquaintance. After finishing his meal, he walked out to his parked motorcycle and was about to leave when the assailant suddenly rushed toward him. The man struck Num in the face with the pistol grip, causing him to fall off his bike and sustain injuries. The attacker then fled the scene on a motorcycle. Num, visibly shaken, stated that he had no idea what provoked the attack, as he rarely goes out and has no known enemies. Following the assault, he sought medical treatment at a hospital before filing a complaint with the Pattaya City Police Station. He urged authorities to swiftly apprehend the culprit.

CCTV footage from the restaurant captured the incident in clear detail. The assailant, a stocky man wearing a black shirt, black shorts, and a black Grab delivery rider cap, rode a red automatic motorcycle. The video shows him charging at Num, pulling a handgun from his waistband, and striking him in the face. The man then turned and slapped the female acquaintance, who had raised her hand to greet Num, before fleeing the scene on his motorcycle.
Pattaya City Police investigators have taken the case seriously, immediately launching an investigation. Officers have reviewed additional CCTV footage and interviewed witnesses, identifying the suspect. Authorities are now working to track him down and bring him to justice. Preliminary findings suggest the attack may have been motivated by jealousy, though police are still gathering evidence. A police spokesperson expressed confidence that the suspect would be apprehended soon, asking the public for patience as the investigation continues.
