An 18-year-old recent high school graduate was killed in a late-night motorcycle crash in Pattaya after losing control of his vehicle and slamming into an electricity pole.
At 2:46 AM on March 31st, the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Center in Pattaya received a report of a fatal motorcycle accident in Soi Sukhumvit 25 in Naklua. Upon receiving the report, the rescue teams immediately went to the scene.
There, responders found a gray Tuscany 150 motorcycle. The motorcycle rider had veered off a curve, grazed a barbed-wire fence, and crashed into an electricity pole. The vehicle was severely damaged and lay by the roadside.
Nearby, they discovered the body of 18-year-old Mr. Weerapap, who had recently graduated from high school. He was found lifeless in a pool of blood, entangled in the barbed wire. Rescue workers removed the body from the fence before transferring to the hospital.
A witness, 32-year-old Mr. Anurak, stated that he had been riding his motorcycle to a friend’s house to play games when he noticed a motorcycle headlight shining from the roadside. Upon approaching, he discovered the victim lying in a pool of blood next to the wrecked motorcycle. He immediately contacted the rescue team.
The victim’s friend stated that Mr. Weerapap had spent the evening at his house, which was less than two kilometers from the accident site. Later that night, Mr. Weerapap had given him a ride home to South Pattaya. After parting ways, the friend, concerned that Mr. Weerapap might fall asleep while riding, called to check on him only to have a bystander answer and tell him of the tragic news.
Police are reviewing CCTV footage to find the cause of the accident.
