Pattaya —

A 26-year-old trans woman in Pattaya was robbed by a Cambodian man she met on a dating app, who took her valuables and disappeared.

On March 26th, local reporters received a complaint from Kritsana, a 26-year-old transgender woman, who fell victim to a Cambodian man she met through a popular dating app. The man initially acted kind and trustworthy but later allegedly took advantage of her and stole valuables from her apartment in South Pattaya.

Kritsana recounted that she met Lek, a Cambodian national, on a mobile dating app. During their first meeting, he appeared normal, even helping her clean the house and wash clothes. This made her trust him, and she quickly developed feelings for him. However, she did not realize that Lek was actually a thief. On his second visit, he asked to stay overnight, which she agreed to.

When Kritsana returned from work late at night, she discovered that Lek had stolen a piggy bank containing about 2,000 baht, a table fan, a hairdryer, and various beauty accessories from her room. When she tried to contact him, she found that he had blocked her on all platforms.

Determined to find evidence, Kritsana paid 300 baht to access CCTV footage from a nearby apartment building. The footage showed Lek leaving her apartment at 4:32 AM, carrying her belongings, before riding off on a motorcycle. She immediately filed a police report at Pattaya Police Station.

Kritsana urged the public to be cautious when trusting strangers. She also called on the authorities to take swift action in tracking down and arresting the suspect.
