Pattaya
Pattaya is stepping up its management efforts with new projects to reclaim public spaces and tackle traffic congestion, aiming to create a safer and more organized city for residents and visitors alike.
Pattaya City Mayor Mr. Poramase Ngampichet is implementing urban management projects to improve the city’s quality of life for both residents and visitors. One key policy, the “Khun Kak, Rao Kep” (You Claim, We Clean) project, focuses on reclaiming public spaces taken by private businesses.
The project promotes awareness in restoring encroached areas for public use, such as repurposing spaces for fire sub-stations to improve emergency response to provide greater safety for both residents and tourists.
In addition to this project, Pattaya is also addressing its traffic issues, which is a major concern for the city. Mr. Poramase said under the “Khun Jod, Rao Jap” (You Park, We Arrest) project, the city has introduced new regulations and signed agreements with traffic police to enforce parking discipline.
A pilot area has been designated from Wat Chai Mongkhon Road to the Suesarn Intersection to regulate parking, reduce congestion, and improve road safety.
Mr. Poramase said these efforts are part of a broader vision to transform Pattaya into a Smart City, with the goal to create a welcoming environment for visitors from around the world.
