Students and Teachers Escape Unharmed After School Bus Fire in Trat

Trat, March 24th, 2025 — Rescue teams in Trat responded to a fire on a school bus carrying 35 students and 7 teachers in Bo Rai District.

Flames and smoke were seen at the rear of the bus. The driver and staff used fire extinguishers to control the blaze, which took about 30 minutes to extinguish. No injuries were reported.

Methee, the 49-year-old driver, reportedly said the bus was returning from a field trip to Ao Thammachart in Laem Ngop District when students reported that the air conditioning was not working and there was a burning smell.

He reportedly stopped the bus, saw smoke coming from the rear, and quickly evacuated everyone before the fire spread.

Initial reports suggest that the fire was caused by a short circuit in the air conditioning system’s fan coil. Officials plan to investigate the damage and implement measures to prevent future incidents.
