Pattaya, March 25, 2025 – At 2:00 PM today, Police Lieutenant General Yingyot Thepjumnong, Commander of Regional Police Bureau 2, along with Police Major General Nanthawut Suwanla-ong, Deputy Commander of Regional Police Bureau 2, Police Colonel Anek Sarathongyoo, the Chief of the Pattaya City Police Station, and other relevant officials, visited Koh Larn. The purpose of the visit was to assess preparations for upgrading safety and security measures for both Thai and foreign tourists visiting and relaxing on the island.
Earlier this morning, Police Major General Nanthawut Suwanla-ong held a meeting with representatives from Pattaya City Police Station, Pattaya Tourist Police, Chonburi Immigration Office, and the Banglamung District Administrative Office to discuss strategies for improving tourist safety protocols. Following the meeting, the delegation proceeded to Koh Larn to inspect and enhance facilities, including the island’s police checkpoint booth and Pattaya City’s CCTV surveillance system.
Police Lieutenant General Yingyot Thepjumnong stated to The Pattaya News after the visit that Regional Police Bureau 2, in collaboration with Pattaya City, is focused on ensuring the safety of tourists and local workers on Koh Larn, an area that attracts a large number of visitors. He noted that various agencies currently operate independently, often with overlapping or complex responsibilities, leading to problems.
“We discussed how to integrate these efforts,” he said. “Pattaya already has a solid foundation in place, and the goal is to coordinate the manpower of each agency—previously working separately—into a unified effort. Our shared objective is to instill confidence in tourists visiting Pattaya and Koh Larn by focusing on their safety.”
The Pattaya News notes this visit did not have to do with the ship that ran aground on Koh Larn overnight, which we covered in detail here.
