German Tourist Assaulted on Pattaya Beach Road by Over Ten Thai Men, Cause Under Investigation

Pattaya, Thailand – At 4:00 AM on March 25, 2025, the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Unit’s radio center in Pattaya received a report of a physical assault on a foreigner resulting in injuries. The incident took place along Pattaya Beach Road. Upon receiving the report, the rescue unit promptly coordinated with officers from the Pattaya City Police Station and dispatched a team of rescue personnel to investigate the scene.

Update: Three suspects have been arrested so far.

Update Two: A motorbike taxi driver involved has turned himself in.

At the location, a crowd of onlookers—of both Thai locals and foreign tourists—had gathered, actively discussing and commenting on the unfolding situation. Among them was a 40-year-old German tourist who had been brutally attacked, sustaining multiple injuries. His body was covered in abrasions, his face swollen with pain, and a gash above his left eyebrow was bleeding profusely, leaving his face drenched in blood. Rescue workers quickly provided initial first aid before urgently transferring him to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
Speaking through an interpreter to the police, the German tourist recounted his ordeal, though his memory of the events was hazy. He stated that he couldn’t recall what had triggered the incident, only that he suddenly found himself being attacked by a group of over ten aggressive men after doing what he said was nothing wrong. Severely injured and overwhelmed with fear, he managed to flee the scene in a desperate bid for survival, seeking help from nearby residents. His escape led to the timely intervention of the police and rescue team, who arrived to assist him.

A video of the incident filmed by witnesses quickly went viral on social media as seen here, appearing to show about ten Thai men, several wearing orange motorbike taxi vests, attacking and assaulting a bald foreign man who is loudly screaming in pain and trying to get away while not appearing to fight back. It is unclear what happened prior to the footage being filmed. The video can be viewed here but we warn sensitive viewers that it could disturb or upset them.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the assault as of press time and this is a developing story.
