Pattaya —
52 illegal Myanmar workers were arrested at a construction site in Pattaya for working without work permits.
On March 24th, Pattaya Police, led by Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, the Thai Minister of Labor, went to inspect an unregistered construction site in Pattaya.
Mr. Phiphat stated that the operation found 58 workers, including three Thais and 55 foreign nationals, with 52 from Myanmar and three from Cambodia.
The 52 Myanmar workers did not have work permits, leading authorities to detain them for “working without permission.” The suspects are currently being processed for legal action at Pattaya Police Station.
Minister Phiphat stated that while Thailand still relies on foreign labor in certain industries, all employers must comply with the laws. Employers must fulfill their responsibilities, and any cases of illegal hiring will result in legal action against both workers and employers. The employer of the workers would also face legal charges, stated the Minister.
