Banglamung —
A 21-year-old Cambodian motorcyclist was seriously injured after crashing into the back of a parked 18-wheeler on Sukhumvit Road in Banglamung early this morning.
At 2:06 AM on March 23rd, the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Center received a report of a motorcycle accident on Sukhumvit Road near the Krating Lai Bridge, inbound to Bangkok in Chonburi province. Upon receiving the report, rescue volunteers and a medical team were dispatched to the scene.
A large crowd had gathered at the site of the accident, where a black Honda Wave 110 motorcycle had crashed into the rear of an 18-wheeler. Underneath the rear section of the truck, rescuers found the wreckage of the motorcycle and the injured rider, identified as Mr. Reaksmey Chek, a 21-year-old Cambodian national.
Mr. Reaksmey was trapped and unable to free himself. Rescue workers kept him conscious while working to extract him, which took approximately 10 minutes. He sustained a laceration on his right leg and also experienced pain in his hip and chest. After receiving first aid, he was urgently transported to a local hospital.
Mr. Tara, the 51-year-old driver of the 18-wheeler, stated that he had parked his truck by the roadside to rest for only a few minutes when he suddenly felt an impact at the rear. Upon inspection, he discovered the motorcycle and its injured rider wedged against the truck’s rear. He immediately contacted rescue services.
