PATTAYA– On March 21st, 2025, a joint operation between local administrative officials and police uncovered illegal drug activity at an abandoned beer bar along Pattaya Second Road, just before the Central Pattaya intersection. The raid was prompted by complaints from residents reporting that homeless individuals had taken up residence in the derelict establishment and were allegedly using illicit drugs, which we covered here yesterday at The Pattaya News.
The operation was led by Mr. Nattawat Sophonsewatasilp, a senior administrative officer from Banglamung District, alongside Police Lieutenant Colonel Sonthaya Khonsap, Deputy Inspector of the Pattaya City Police Station’s Crime Suppression Unit, and a team of police officers. Upon arrival, authorities discovered three homeless individuals—two men and one woman—living in the abandoned bar.
Initial questioning revealed nothing unusual, as all three appeared calm and cooperative while their identification documents were checked. However, a subsequent search turned up drug paraphernalia and a small quantity of crystal methamphetamine (“ice”) in the possession of the two men. Overwhelmed by the discovery, both men broke down in tears. Drug tests confirmed the presence of narcotics in their systems, leading to their immediate arrest and transfer to Pattaya City Police Station for legal action.
The woman, meanwhile, tested negative for drug use. Authorities coordinated with the Chonburi Provincial Office of Social Development and Human Security (MSDHS) to take her into care and provide appropriate assistance moving forward.
Officials emphasized that this raid is part of an ongoing effort to crack down on high-risk areas prone to drug abuse and criminal activity.
