Two Chinese Nationals Arrested in Pattaya for Online Scams and Kidnapping Case

Pattaya —

Two Chinese nationals were arrested in a luxury villa in Pattaya on March 19th, 2025, after being linked to a major online investment scam and a high-profile kidnapping case.

At 2:00 PM, the Cyber Crime Police held a press conference announcing the arrest of Ms. Di Ww, 27, a Chinese national, along with Mr. Zhou Zongyon, 29, at a luxurious pool villa in Pattaya.

The investigation revealed that the female suspect was allegedly the beneficiary of a fraudulent online investment network involving the digital currency USDT, amounting to 18.4 million USDT, or approximately 618 million baht.

Police explained that officers searched the villa in Pattaya, which was registered under the name of the Chinese woman. During the search, officers found another Chinese man, Mr. Zhou, hiding inside the property. He acted suspiciously and did not have an entry/exit stamp in his passport, leading authorities to suspect that he had entered Thailand illegally through the Cambodian border. As a result, he was detained and charged with violating immigration laws.

Further investigation revealed that Mr. Zhou was a wanted fugitive in China. He had allegedly been implicated in the kidnapping of a Chinese woman in Sihanoukville, Cambodia, where he and his accomplices allegedly tortured the victim and sent images of her abuse to her family before demanding a ransom of 1 million yuan. The victim is still missing, and Mr. Zhou is also allegedly linked to international money-laundering operations connected to overseas call center crime networks.

Police stated that the two suspects would face legal action in Thailand before being handed over to Chinese authorities for prosecution. Additionally, officers found that the suspects used four Thai bank accounts. Two more individuals suspected of helping them open the bank accounts are now wanted, and investigations are ongoing to expand the case to others involved in the operation.
