Pattaya-
Residents along Pattaya Second Road in Pattaya City have raised complaints about a group of homeless individuals who have taken over an abandoned beer bar as a shelter. The group has been sleeping there, gathering to use drugs, and causing social issues and safety concerns in the area.
Reporters visited the location in question, situated before the Pattaya Klang intersection, and confirmed that it is an abandoned beer bar left deserted since the COVID-19 situation. Inside, homeless individuals were found living among scattered trash and various belongings.
A local resident (who requested anonymity) revealed that the bar has become a refuge for several homeless people. Beyond using it as a place to sleep, they have also been observed allegedly gathering to use methamphetamine.
“We want the property owner to secure the place more thoroughly to prevent outsiders from entering and staying there. We also urge the authorities to take serious action to address this issue. In the past, Pattaya City officials have come to inspect and evict the homeless, but they always return shortly after,” the resident stated.
Upon investigation, it was found that no fewer than five homeless individuals are living in the area. Residents are increasingly anxious about safety and the orderliness of their community, urging relevant agencies to swiftly intervene and resolve the problem. This comes amid other operations to crack down on homeless encampments in Pattaya.
