Pattaya Police Conduct Sting Operation, Seize Large Cache of E-Cigarettes

Pattaya-

On March 20, 2025, at 11:00 PM, Pattaya City Police, led by Pol. Col. Anek Sa-thongyoo, Chief of Pattaya City Police Station, teamed up with a special operations unit to execute a sting operation targeting illegal electronic cigarette sales. The operation resulted in the arrest of Mr. Chaiwut, a 45-year-old suspect caught selling e-cigarettes.

The authorities confiscated a large haul of evidence, including 78 disposable fruit-flavored e-cigarettes and 13 fruit-flavored e-liquid pods, with the total value of the seized goods estimated at 31,000 baht.
The operation stemmed from a government directive to crack down on the illegal trade of electronic cigarettes as we have reported numerous times such as here. Following this policy, police were tasked with gathering intelligence on groups involved in the distribution of these products. After receiving a tip about a group of sellers, undercover officers were deployed to make a controlled purchase of fruit-flavored e-cigarettes. The sting took place at a shop located in Soi Kaset Sin 9.

The suspect, along with the confiscated items, was handed over to investigators. Mr. Chaiwut now faces charges and will be processed according to legal procedures.
