Pattaya —
An Indian tourist in Pattaya was struck on the head with a beer bottle and robbed by four women after an alleged dispute over payment for escort services.
At 3:20 AM on March 21st, Pattaya police received a report that a foreign tourist had been assaulted and robbed at a rental house in Soi Kromti Din 2. Emergency responders from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation immediately went to the scene, along with police.
Upon arrival, officers found bloodstains leading from the entrance of the house, along with a 100-baht banknote on the ground near the swimming pool. Broken beer bottles were scattered across the area. The victim, identified only as Mr. N, a 40-year-old Indian national, had sustained injuries to his left eyebrow and swelling on his head from being struck with a beer bottle. Emergency responders provided first aid before transporting him to Bangkok Pattaya Hospital.
Mr. N stated to police that he and two friends, also Indian nationals, had arrived in Pattaya and rented the house for four days at 5,000 baht per night. On the night of the incident, they had gone for a walk on Walking Street.
Upon returning to their rental house, they were followed by four Thai women on two motorcycles. The women then allegedly entered the house and demanded 6,000 baht, threatening Mr. N with a beer bottle. Fearing for his safety, he threw 4,000 baht at them, but they allegedly refused to leave and instead struck him with the bottle. His frightened friend then handed over 10,000 baht to the attackers, after which they fled.
The victims then called a Thai friend in Bangkok, who notified the police and emergency services.
Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to track down the suspects. However, officers were skeptical of the victims’ statements. Additionally, the victims initially requested only medical assistance and insisted they did not need police involvement. Authorities suspect the incident may have stemmed from a dispute over payment for escort services. The investigation is ongoing.
