Pattaya-
At 6:10 p.m. on March 19, 2025, the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Center in Pattaya received an urgent call reporting a malfunctioning elevator with people trapped inside. The incident occurred at a condominium located in Soi Arunothai. Rescue volunteers, equipped with specialized cutting and extraction tools, immediately rushed to the scene to assist.
Upon arrival, authorities discovered three individuals trapped inside the elevator, which had stalled between the second and third floors for over an hour. The trapped individuals were identified as Mrs. Thanyaphon Iaram, 49, Mr. Samruay Iaram, 54, and Mr. Boonsri Kaema, 55—all part of a painting contractor team working at the building. Using their equipment, rescue personnel successfully pried open the elevator doors and found the trio in a state of exhaustion, drenched in sweat due to the lack of ventilation.
The rescue team promptly assisted the three contractors, safely extracting them from the confined space. All were reported to be unharmed following the ordeal, thanks to the swift response of the volunteers.
Mr. Boonsri Kaema, one of the trapped contractors, recounted the frightening experience. He explained that he and his team had entered the elevator intending to retrieve their equipment from the 11th floor. However, after reaching the second floor, the elevator suddenly stopped and refused to move further. Despite their attempts to press the emergency button and shout for help, no one outside the elevator could hear them. With no immediate response, Mr. Boonsri called his son, who then alerted the authorities to send rescue personnel.
Authorities have not yet released information regarding the cause of the malfunction, but the safe rescue of the contractors was met with relief by onlookers and residents alike.
