Bangkok, March 21st, 2025 — Bangkok will participate in the 60+ Earth Hour 2025 campaign by turning off non-essential lights for one hour on Saturday, March 22nd, 2025, from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM.
Ekwaranyu Amrapal, spokesperson for the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), announced that the campaign will involve government agencies, private businesses, and the public.
Participants are encouraged to switch off decorative lights, building lights, billboards, and household appliances to conserve energy and reduce global warming.
Five key landmarks will participate in the symbolic switch-off: Wat Phra Kaew, Wat Arun, the Giant Swing, Rama VIII Bridge, and Wat Saket. All 50 district offices will also join, coordinating with local businesses and residents to turn off lights along major streets.
The event is part of a global campaign involving 7,000 cities across 190 countries. The BMA encourages participants to share their involvement on social media using hashtags like #EarthHour2025, #BiggestHourForEarth, and #MyHourForEarth.
The campaign aims to promote sustainable energy use and raise awareness about climate change.
